Balloon Chucker — v0.1

retired full revision

The ballistic throw was the project's first proven verb; no originating character had been established.

Why: Establishes the honest starting point of the Chucker chain: a proven throw feel with no kid attached yet.

Proven finding: A balloon throw using gravity 5.0, mass 0.55, drag 0.55, throw_power 19.75, arc_angle 29.0, and spin 12.5 reads as "pretty good feel"; hold-to-throw without a trajectory preview and continuous firing while strafing both landed well.

Legend

No Legend existed yet. There was no hedge, no witness, and no throw anyone could call a legend — only a tuned arc.

Suburb

No Suburb existed yet. There was no sash, no pail, no age, and no race; the throw had no visible owner.

Current draft

At this date the balloon throw existed purely as a feel-spike scene. No originating character, name, silhouette, or backstory had been recorded anywhere in the repository; there was a projectile and a camera rig, not yet a kid.

What changed

Nothing changed within this revision; it captures the repository's state before any character work began. The feel-spike scene (commit f97a198) and the first balloon feel preset (commit b1fbf5b) established the throw that later revisions build a kid around.

Why it changed

This revision exists so the reconstructed chain has an honest first link: the throw was proven before the thrower existed.

Evidence and playtest marginalia

  • TUNING.md, "Pretty good feel — 2026-07-17": gravity 5.0, balloonmass 0.55, drag 0.55, throwpower 19.75, arcangle 29.0, spin 12.5, splashradius 1.5; feel notes record "low-ish gravity feels good," "spin 12.5 gives the balloon a wobbly look that feels good," and "being able to fire continuously feels wild in a good way." Commits f97a198 (feel-spike scene) and b1fbf5b (first balloon feel preset).
  • docs/seventh-street-charter-v8.md §5, "What Stage 0 proved": the throw was the project's first confirmed verb, ahead of any roster or character design.

Rejected or alternate directions

Nothing was rejected at this date; no character-level proposal yet existed to reject.

Still unresolved

  • Personality, silhouette, family, and voice were not recorded.
  • Why a child would carry this role at all was not yet asked.
