Suction Blaster — v0.1
seed seed revision
A quick-cycling ranged kid whose suction-pump blaster fires one short, arrow-like bolt of water instead of a sustained stream.
Legend
The Suction Blaster is the skirmisher with a water bow: draw, aim, loose, move. Each bright bolt crosses the street on a visible line, and the next is already being drawn before the first splash settles.
Suburb
A kid with a long foam pump squirter, repeatedly pulling the handle back to gulp up water and slamming it forward to send one compact burst downrange. The equipment is a pool toy, not a firearm; its oversized colored tube and obvious pumping action must preserve that read.
Current draft
The Suction Blaster uses a brightly colored foam pump shooter. One pull draws water into the tube; one shove fires it as a short, coherent pulse that reads more like an arrow than a hose stream. The cycle is quicker than refilling a pressurized Super Soaker, but every shot requires a deliberate reload.
The role is mobile ranged harassment: less sustained pressure than a Super Soaker, less raw continuous power than a Hose Kid, and a straighter, faster-cycling shot than a Balloon Chucker's lob.
Why this possibility exists
The current ranged ideas occupy different commitments:
- Hose Kid is powerful and can sustain pressure, but the hose physically tethers the kid to a hose bib.
- Super Soaker is mobile and produces a sustained stream, but eventually pays for it with a longer refill.
- Suction Blaster trades sustained output for a quick reload and a discrete, arrow-like pulse.
Anthony supplied a foam suction-shooter product image as equipment direction on 2026-07-26. The reference itself is not published because its source and display rights have not been established.
Still unresolved
- Where the blaster draws its next load from without creating a new water economy or a player-managed refill chore.
- Whether the bolt travels visibly through space or resolves as a very short stream with projectile-like timing.
- Effective range, soak, reload duration, and whether moving interrupts the draw.
- Whether the silhouette remains unmistakably a pool toy when viewed at gameplay scale.
- Whether the role is distinct enough from Balloon Chucker to justify another discrete ranged attacker.
Featured question
Is a discrete, fast-reloading water bolt tactically distinct enough from both the Super Soaker's stream and the Balloon Chucker's arcing projectile?
