Slingshot Crew

Paired high-fidelity and low-poly study of three ten-year-old girls on a driveway working one launcher together — two bracing white PVC pipes against their hips, the lightest leaning her whole weight back on the drawn amber tubing — all three looking up and laughing at a red balloon already high above a distant roofline.

Early exploration — not representative of final direction.

Two girls brace the launcher while the third pulls back the pouch and all three watch the balloon rise.

developing current version v0.5

A stationary three-kid artillery crew with enormous range, a long reload, and no defense up close.

Archetype

A stationary three-kid artillery crew with enormous range, a long reload, and no defense up close.

Personality

The Slingshot Crew is three ten-year-old girls who discovered that they can throw a water balloon over a house together. They cackle while aiming and are genuinely surprised each time the launcher works. Two hold the pipes. The lightest walks the pouch backward and counts.

They share the work and the joke. None of them can fire alone, and none has tried to claim the invention for herself. The shot leaves on two because they always become too excited to wait for three.

Motivation

Winning means landing the shot nobody else can attempt. They want the whole block to stop and listen when the tubing draws tight. The distant target matters, but making the impossible launch together is why they return.

How they fight

Two girls brace PVC pipes while the third pulls back a surgical-tubing pouch. The launcher reaches across houses and can threaten ground far beyond ordinary balloon range. It is strongest from a protected driveway with clear time to set up and a team that can tell the crew where the fight moved.

They cannot move and fire, the reload is long, and all three are occupied. A fast attacker who reaches the driveway stops the launcher. The large minimum range makes nearby targets difficult, and one interrupted crew member can halt the whole shot.

Field data

  • Age: 10 for all three.
  • Height / build: approximately 1.40 m (4 ft 7 in) each; medium builds.
  • Weight: approximately 34 kg (75 lb) each.
  • Speed: steady when packed and immobile while firing (target); exact value unset.
  • Stamina / soak: each girl is called in at full soak (target); exact capacities, slowdowns, and the shared-crew rule unset.
  • Strengths: enormous range, powerful balloon attack, fires over houses and cover.
  • Weaknesses: three kids committed, long reload, immobile and defenseless up close.

From the studio

This revision uses casting sheet row 5 for age, identity, size, personality, and the artillery role, with charter §8 for minimum range and immobility. The sheet leans toward combining this role with Wheelchair Catapult, but no final cut has been recorded. Nothing here exists in the sim. Earlier published revisions remain unchanged in the timeline.

Evolution timeline

  1. v0.1 — A multi-kid emplacement-adjacent unit whose cost is measured in teammates, not resources. seed
  2. v0.2 — The three-kid launcher remains a live heavy-artillery concept, now explicitly competing with Wheelchair Catapult rather than silently winning the role. developing
  3. v0.3 — The three-kid launcher becomes three asymmetric girls on one line of surgical tubing, in a sunset dossier that records the casting sheet's lean toward a merge into Wheelchair Catapult without declaring the cut final. developing
  4. v0.4 — A stationary three-kid artillery crew with enormous range, a long reload, and no defense up close. developing
  5. v0.5 — A stationary three-kid artillery crew with enormous range, a long reload, and no defense up close. developing
