Towel Snapper — v0.1

retired full revision

The Snapper's approach, windup, snap/flinch rhythm, persistent attacks, and speed advantage over the Knight were proven in MG2 and MG3; no richer originating character had been recorded.

Why: Reconstructs the mechanics-first Snapper era so the chain shows the matchup proven before the bully, the swimsuit, or the moral boundary existed.

Proven finding: Against a Chucker, the Snapper won 8/8 in an eight-seed integer harness (mean resolution 141 ticks); against the Knight, the Snapper won 8/8 (mean resolution 153 ticks), validating the charter's claim that the Snapper's flinch rate beats the shield 1v1.

Legend

No Legend existed yet beyond a mechanical claim: this unit closes distance fast and wins the exchange it started.

Suburb

No Suburb existed yet. There was a windup ring and a flinch rhythm on a tactical board, not a swimsuit, an age, or a target.

Current draft

At this date the Snapper was a proven melee matchup and a letter glyph on the tactical board: fast, unarmored, and mechanically superior to the Knight in a straight 1v1. The older-sibling bully, swimsuit confidence, moral boundary, and specific Paladin targeting had not yet been supported by any evidence.

What changed

The Snapper's melee gate (commit 3c3bb32) and its MG2 and MG3 human verdicts (commits 87e21ae and a5c06fc) established the approach, windup, flinch pressure, persistence, and speed advantage that later revisions build a specific kid around.

Why it changed

This revision exists so the chain shows exactly when the matchup became trustworthy enough to hang a character on, without projecting today's cruelty or moral boundary backward onto mechanics-only evidence.

Evidence and playtest marginalia

  • TUNING.md, "Stage 1 Sprint 2 MG2 pre-gate - Snapper — 2026-07-21": range 1.2 m, windup 6 ticks, cooldown 9 ticks, soak 12%, speed 5.75 m/s; eight-seed harness against a Chucker: 8/8 Snapper wins, mean resolution 141 ticks. Anthony: "Great, looks good." Commit 3c3bb32 (Snapper melee gate) and verdict commit 87e21ae.
  • TUNING.md, "Stage 1 Sprint 2 MG3 pre-gate - Knight — 2026-07-21": eight-seed melee harness, Snapper wins 8/8 against Knight, mean resolution 153 ticks. Anthony: "This is feeling great - the Snapper definitely has a faster feel than the Knight." Commit a5c06fc (verdict).
  • docs/seventh-street-charter-v8.md §8: roster table entry, "Towel Snapper — Berserk — Fast, no armor, wet towel snap. High attack rate → constant flinches → beats the Knight 1v1 despite the shield. Best unit on the list."

Rejected or alternate directions

Nothing character-level was rejected at this date; only mechanical defaults were accepted without a constant change.

Still unresolved

  • The older-sibling bully identity, swimsuit confidence, and moral boundary were not yet supported.
  • Specific targeting of the Pool Noodle Paladin was not yet recorded.
  • Age, gender language, race, and family context were entirely unknown.
